Coating and food drying: how to outsource these services

by | Mar 20, 2019 | Marketplace | 0 comments

Have you heard of outsourcing the coating and food drying services?  Small and medium-sized companies do not always have the proper physical space or equipment to perform all production processes internally to put their products on the market.

With this in mind, Blue Macaw Flora Brazil has expanded its outsourcing services, which already included food packaging, and also offers the processes of coating and drying of various foods within its manufacturing structure, located in the ABC region of Greater São Paulo.

“We have a properly sanitized and safe structure so that companies from the food industry can implement different processes with high quality. The packaging service has been successful and we now offer another part of our machinery to perform the coating and food drying, “explains Ana Tovazi, managing partner of Blue Macaw Flora.

Coating and food drying: how do these services work?

Coating is a procedure that coats grains with different sweet and salty textures. In a structure with highly controlled humidity and temperature, the product can receive successive layers of colors, flavors, and aromas, depending on the thickness to be achieved.

The process of food drying, also known as food desiccation or dehydration, consists of removing water from food without compromising the nutrient content.

The fruits are cleaned, sliced and placed in grates located in machines with controlled temperature and humidity so that the removal of water is accomplished with safety and in accordance with the current standards.

Blue Macaw Flora’s fruit bits are good examples of products that undergo the coating and drying processes. The product is made from dehydrated apple pieces covered with crunchy layers of fruit in the flavors acai, chocolate, passion fruit, banana, lemon, plum, and cupuacu.

Qpod is among the companies that use Blue Macaw Flora Brazil’s infrastructure to perform some of their production processes. Located in Campinas, in the State of São Paulo, Qpod develops healthy snacks by adopting the process of freeze drying, the same dehydration procedure used for the food consumed by astronauts.

Blue Macaw took part to perform the coating process for two lines of QPod’s snacks: acai and pineapple. The first, named Amazon Bites, is composed of freeze-dried banana, coated with whey and acai. And the pineapple version, called Tropical Bites, has freeze-dried pineapple, coated with whey and coconut milk.

“Blue Macaw Flora’s team has spared no efforts in making the project work. The partnership was very important to us and the professionals were very receptive and welcoming. I really recommend it,” says Marta Moraes, Qpod’s founding partner.

And she anticipates: “Soon, we will have new launches made from the partnership with Blue Macaw Flora.”

Ana Tovazi celebrates: “We are aligning the development of new products so that QPod and Blue Macaw Flora can be partners in new successful projects!”
