Dehydrated fruit bits make up healthy snacks

More and more consumers are seeking to include natural products in their daily diet. With that, the wave of healthy snacks is thriving, especially of those produced with fruit bits, with no additives, colorings, and preservatives.

Snacks are, in fact, a healthy option and quite practical in the daily routine. We know that it is not always possible to carry in the bag pieces of fruit in natura, since this food option is fragile, perishable and needs adequate transportation and storage.

That is why snacks are having such success: they are healthy, easy to carry, ready for consumption and do not require storage in a refrigerator, for example.

In order to meet the expectations of these consumers, Blue Macaw Flora has launched snacks of tropical and Amazonian fruits for the Frootiva product line in 2011, which we call fruit bits.

So far, the fruit bits are available in the following flavors: acai, cupuacu, passion fruit, banana, lemon, and plum, besides versions with chia, cinnamon or 55%-cocoa chocolate.

They can be marketed in retail or developed under the private label model. They can also be used as an ingredient or a complement – as if it were a granola – on top of salads, yogurts, acai pulp, and ice cream.

These same fruit bits may also be used as raw material in the food industry, in the manufacture of items such as fruit mixes, cookies, bread, and desserts.

The fruit bits produced by Blue Macaw Flora are 100% natural, free of colorings or preservatives (GMO-Free), cholesterol, trans fat, gluten and lactose, and also have very low sodium content.

Snacks with fruit bits around the world

Blue Macaw Flora produces and markets the Frootiva product line so that the food industry can produce items with a healthy appeal, besides offering advice for the development of innovative products. This is a new area within the company that has been strengthening since last year with projects in progress, both for customers in the domestic market and for exportation.

Earlier this year, in partnership with Native Berries, an Acai manufacturer, Blue Macaw Flora has shipped a container of fruit bits with the Native Berries’ label for a large retail network in the United States, called Big Lots. It has supplied its stores in the states of Alabama, California, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, and Ohio.
